US students fight for education rights

The challenges facing the US public education system are enormous. Despite attempts over the years to give all young Americans access to a decent education regardless of race or social class, the gap between educational haves and have-nots remains wide. Al Jazeera's Nick Spicer reports.
Many of our nations public schools continue to remain racially segregated. But more importantly they also continue to sustain crippling levels of underfunding.This is precisely why we must place the 1954 Brown vs. Board of Edu. decision in a socio-economic context and not merely a racial context. If structures which facilitate exploitation are kept in place change cannot come no matter what the Supreme Court decides. We all know what words without corresponding action add up to....Nothing!
